Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started. Hello, my friends, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. I'm your host, rachel Perry, and today we are going to dive a little bit more into what it might look like for you to build your own digital product, because here's the thing you've built a strong business. I'm talking to the leader. I'm talking to the leader right now who maybe has used to have, like, a really good paycheck. Maybe it was between five and 10,000 a month, or five and 15,000 a month, and now your paycheck has gotten smaller because your teams aren't working as well, and you know what. That's okay, all right, because you've led teams, you've made the sales. But here's what most leaders don't realize the knowledge and experience that you have gained in your direct like, from your direct sales business, my friend, that is a product in itself. So today we're going to talk about why more leaders need to be creating their digital products and why it might be the smartest move. We're also going to talk about because I have talked to quite a few leaders who already have the idea, have already started creating their digital product, and if that's you, I am here to help you fast track it so that you can start making money now. Because here's the thing and the reason I'm speaking to leaders is because oh, I see this over and over and over again. Maybe you're in your top 10, 15% of your company, you've got loyal customers, you've got a decent sized team. It may have dwindled some right Like. It may have reduced, and you know you've made good money before. Maybe you're not making as much now, but still, even though it's still, you know you, you've made good money before. Maybe you're not making as much now, but still, even though it's still, you know it's still working for you.
Speaker 1:It's not the same, it's not how it used to be, and you have this little whisper, like this little whisper that's like, ah, it's not as much fun as it used to be. I'm feeling frustrated, or I'm feeling tired, or this is like it doesn't fill my cup Like it used to. You're getting more and more frustrated with your audience Sorry, not your audience, your team. What Can I talk? I think so. I'm just putting on like chapstick, because my lips are so chapped right now and I got distracted in putting on the chapstick. Okay, but maybe you have that little whisper, maybe you are thinking, gosh, this just isn't filling my cup the way it used to. I don't, I don't love it as much as I used to.
Speaker 1:Sometimes we become sort of disheartened. We start seeing the truth, we start seeing how people are doing things, we start seeing how the company is doing things or how fellow leaders are doing things, and we're like you know, I'm just not loving that, I'm not loving that. So basically, if that's you, I want you to know you're not alone. You're not alone. You can still be committed. You can still be committed to your direct sales business. But we need to acknowledge that something is shifting and if you're smart, if you're one of the smart leaders, it's time to think ahead. All right, let's start thinking ahead.
Speaker 1:Creating a digital product doesn't mean that you need to leave your company. It doesn't mean that you need to leave your team. It just means that you're owning your expertise in a new way. It gives you options, and I'm going to give you some examples today of what that might look like. What does that digital product look like? Now, if you're like Rachel, I just need more ideas, dm me 75 and I will send you my digital product vault. It's 75 ideas just to get you thinking about things that you could be creating.
Speaker 1:But here's what we need to talk about. We need to bust a myth. We need to bust the myth a couple of myths that digital products have to be complicated because they don't. You guys, I started small. I started with a mini course and I sold it for $19. Some other things that you can do as well. I mean, here's the thing the chances are is that you're already doing this, you're already teaching it, you're already in it, like you, you probably already have it, or at least you. It won't take you too long to create it, and what I'm seeing is so many direct sellers get caught up in the creation part of it when really, like, we can be creating this product pretty quickly. Yes, it needs to look pretty, but you can figure that out, you're you're a freaking leader. You can figure these things out. It's we need to get it out there, and I teach leaders how to create and sell a digital product in 30 days or less. You just have to be willing to take action.
Speaker 1:So let's just talk about some ideas right now, just some different ideas, just to get your brain going in that direction. So let's start with because you're a leader, you are an expert in this industry. So here are some examples you could create. You could create a script pack like scripts for follow ups that actually work, based on what's worked for you. Maybe you have been really great at recruiting. Now I want to say this even if you're not great at recruiting right now, but you have been great at recruiting in the past, you can still. You are still the expert in that area. It just needs you to know that.
Speaker 1:So you could do like create a recruiting challenge or an onboarding system for new members. Chances are, you already have it right, like you probably already have it. So what could you? Just recreate it and sell it. What about how to plan a month of content workshop? You could do a paid workshop.
Speaker 1:Now, I understand you can't charge your downline, but guess what you can charge other people. What about like? Maybe, if you've had like, you are awesome at doing parties you always have been. You're big into theme nights. Why not teach that? Why not create, like, a theme night playbook? Or maybe you're really, really good at systems. I'm telling you right now there are a lot of people who aren't. What if you create, like, a systems and tracking template bundle? Okay, the list goes on and on and on. Maybe it's a customer care email sequence, or maybe it's a mini course on how you hit however much in sales.
Speaker 1:Whatever it is like, whatever you feel that you are good at in your business as a leader, you can turn that into something. If you've figured something out in your business whether it's customer retention, team training, content planning, whatever it is there is someone behind you who is struggling. Right, that's your product. You've walked ahead. You've walked ahead of these people. You only need to be one or two steps ahead, you guys. When I started the tag team with Amanda, we were only one or two steps ahead. We had developed the Facebook party formula and we had doubled our sales. We were teaching people how to party on Facebook. We kept updating the Facebook party formula too. It wasn't like the final version the moment we started selling it. That's just how it is.
Speaker 1:So let's also talk about maybe you're just not feeling becoming kind of a coach or creating products to help in the space as a leader. What, if you love maybe you're in the health and fitness and wellness space you could create, like a weekly meal plan template and grocery list. Maybe you could create a five or a 10 day clean eating guide or a 30 day clean eating guide. What about a workout calendar? Or maybe you offer coaching like an add on coaching. You know how a lot of Beachbody way back when, beachbody coaches would often add like you can join my Facebook group or you can join my coaching membership for the month and they would get coaching around their nutrition and exercise. Why not do that? You could create a journal template or a mindset tracker. All of these are things that you could charge for, so like, let's say, a customer purchases from you or a mindset tracker. All of these are things that you could charge for. So like, let's say, a customer purchases from you or they are a monthly subscriber, you could say, if you want to add $7 a month, you will also get the weekly meal plan template and each week I'll send you a new one, or something like that.
Speaker 1:Let's think out of the box. Maybe you are in the beauty industry skincare, makeup Okay, what if you did something like a confident? Maybe your ideal person is a working mom, maybe she owns her own business. You could do like a confident on camera or confident in the workplace or something that's lame. Don't do that but where you show these moms how to look polished and put together on social media. Or maybe you're doing like one-on-one beauty consults where you help them figure out their new routine, their new makeup routine, and you show them how to apply makeup. Or maybe it's a mini course on like something about helping them get their glow up. You sell skincare and you sell makeup, but you also offer like one-on-one services for their glow up. Like, let me personally help you build your, create your glow up. That would be so fun. My gosh, that would be so fun. Maybe you are. Maybe you sell like organizers, tupperware I mean 31, but not 31 because it's not around anymore cleaning right or decor, home decor.
Speaker 1:You could do a challenge. You could do like a five-day challenge I wouldn't do any longer than five days and it could be like declutter, like a boss challenge and they have to pay to be a part of the challenge and you basically guide them through this challenge on decluttering their home in five days or less. What if you did like a kitchen organization blueprint with links and visuals and all the things that they can do and they can get it for like $9. If you love Canva and you love to help people like label people love labels, right, or they love planners and things like that, maybe you could create something like that. There are so many options, guys. There are so many options I'm not done let's talk about.
Speaker 1:I was talking to someone in Stampin' Up this week, so here's some. Here's some ideas you could like the crafters like if you're a crafter ideas you could if like the crafters like if you're a crafter, what if you offered like a monthly project membership or a monthly something where you're going to guide them through a project? Maybe it includes the materials, maybe it doesn't depends on how much it is. You could do like a crafting for kids. I mean, it's the summer, right, like what if you put together an activity pack for moms in the summer? Y'all these are digital products that you don't have to charge very much for. But listen, if you sold 10 at $7, that's $70. You've just made Really not putting in a ton of work. I'm just saying here's the bottom line. If you figured something out, or if it feels obvious to you, it's not to someone else and that, my friends, is where your product is, that's where your genius is.
Speaker 1:So now let's talk about the power of having something that's yours and this is not new. I've talked about this before. But y'all, I've been talking to a lot of leaders recently and there is, across the board, I think there's this like frustration and exhaustion, and I think there's this prompting maybe, that you're, you're getting like, you're like. I don't know if I can do this for another 10 years, or I don't know if I can do this for another five years. I don't know if I can do this for another year. I'm over it.
Speaker 1:The beauty of creating a digital product now is that it's something that you own. You don't need to rely on your team to show up in order to make a sale. You just rely on yourself. You don't have to wait on corporate to change your comp plan in order for you to increase how much you make a month. You don't need to worry about corporate changing the comp plan and that's going to affect you even more. You can create this once and sell it over and over and over again.
Speaker 1:I just talked about how, when Amanda and I created the Facebook party formula, the first one that we created was not the final one. Well, the first one was $19. Eventually, we re-upped it, we re-recorded all the things and we ended up selling it for $400. So it's a process. What you start with isn't what you end with, and that's okay. But you can keep selling it over and over and over again, all right, and you can monetize your brain, your ideas, not just your time, when you're in control of this.
Speaker 1:This is going to literally change your business. Okay, it's good. Now, control of this. This is going to literally change your business. Okay, it's going now. Don't get me wrong. It is effort in the beginning because you have to create it, but you guys, it's not that bad, I, and then, if you work with me to do it. I literally give you templates, I literally guide you through all of this. But listen, if you are, and listen if you've already come up with an idea. I want to really encourage you.
Speaker 1:I think I need to do a podcast on this, but I'm going to encourage you to take action. Let's not sit around and be like I'm thinking about it yeah, I don't, let's just do the dang thing, because what will it hurt? And I am taking this advice right now. I've been meaning to do a secret podcast for months, you guys, months, and I keep changing the topic. I keep changing what it's going to be about, and now I'm done. I'm done. We're not doing this anymore. We are recording it. It's going to happen, okay, it's going to be called beyond the team and it's all.
Speaker 1:It's literally going to guide you through the process of creating your digital product. I mean, and it's free, why have I not done that? I don't know, but I'm doing it, and so are you. You're going to do your thing, okay, maybe you don't know where to start, though. Maybe you are like Rach, this is a great idea and all, but I don't know where to start. Well, yes, you do. You're just telling yourself that you don't. Okay, you come up with the idea and you get started.
Speaker 1:This is the easy part, you guys, and this is what I walk my clients through. I walk you through how to take what you already know or your idea or maybe you've even created a digital product in the past I help you take that up-level, it like let's elevate it and let's market it and get it out there, right, so that we can turn it into something that someone will pay for. And here's the thing you don't need to be techie, you don't need to be a coach, you don't need to be an expert In fact, you probably are an expert now. In fact, you are not. Probably you are an expert. You just need a message and a method. That's it. That's it, and a method that's it. That's it.
Speaker 1:So, listen, if you are curious and you're like okay, rach, like I've been sitting on this idea, I am done thinking about it, I am ready to take action, then this might be for you. So, listen, you've already proven that you can sell. You've already proven that you know how to lead. Now it's time to turn something into your, or turn that into something that's yours, okay. So if you're like Rachel, let's talk more. I want to know more. Just DM me. Just DM me on Instagram and just say Rachel, I listened to your podcast today. I'd love to know how can we work together and I'm going to help you. I'm going to help you build that digital product. Okay, listen, you have got this, and I've been talking about this a lot recently, and the reason for it is because I'm really so.
Speaker 1:I wish that you could see what I see, and that is that it can be so simple to create more security in your life. It can be so simple to create something that's going to bring you joy rather than complete exhaustion and frustration. I'm not telling you it's all. Don't get me wrong, it's not all. You know roses, okay, but somehow there's something that's just so awesome when you're like this is mine, I don't have to report to anyone, this is completely mine. I don't have to worry about what compliance is thinking. I don't have to. This is mine and I can do with it. What I want to do, so my encouragement to you is to really start leaning into your, just those little tugs that you're feeling right now. Really start thinking about it. If you haven't thought about it because, friend, it is so important to create something of your own. I really feel like you have been built for something more. I don't believe that direct sales is your end game. So we'll end on that note.
Speaker 1:Hope this was helpful. I look forward to seeing you back here for another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. Until then, take care. That's it for this episode of the direct sellers podcast, but our fun doesn't have to end now. You'll catch me hanging out over on instagram between episodes and I'd love for you to join me.
