Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started.

Speaker 1:

Hello, my friends, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. You know me, I'm your host, rachel Perry, and we're going to talk about something today that I'm just really excited, rachel Perry, and we're going to talk about something today that I'm just really excited to talk to you about, because I think this could be revolutionary for your life. Does that sound dramatic? Possibly, but I really, really, really, really, really do think that this is going to be a game changer for you. I just want you to open your mind a little bit. But listen, today, how is this possible? Today is my daughter's 17th birthday. How did that happen? And you know if you're a parent. You know, and sorry, I was just putting lip gloss on. I don't know if that made a weird sound when I put it back in. It's this new elf elf lip gloss and it's the shimmery one. I don't know what it's called, but I'm obsessed with it. The glow reviver, lip oil, glimmer, finish, and if you could just see me, right now, my lips are glimmering. Okay, so just know that. But anyway, you, you know if you're a parent, it's so weird. You blink, you blink, and I just don't understand how she's 17. It's so weird. It's so weird. But we are having fun celebrating her. She had a party this past weekend with the focus of like. The theme was Mamma Mia, you know, um, and I can't, I can't remember, I can't remember what, the, what, the, the song with the words aren't really bad at that, but you know, like, the dancing queen, um, and it says something about her being 17. Um, so that's what we did with the cutest cake, all the things. So that was super fun. And today we celebrate. We celebrate when she gets home from school, all the things. So, so weird, so weird that she's 17. It's so weird that my son is graduating in like five weeks. It's so weird that the baby is 14 and I'm still only, you know, 30. So weird.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, today we're going to talk about the summer and I am going to give you a suggestion, and I'm going to help you with this, on how to make more money this summer. So the summer tends to be like a slowdown for all of us. Right, it just is. It just becomes a slower time, especially in direct sales. Back when I was doing direct sales years and years ago, you know people wouldn't have parties as much, and I know parties aren't happening as much as they used to, but it just slows down. People don't stop buying, though. Y'all you know that, right, like, people don't stop buying in the summer. You've just got to figure out how to keep the sales going.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you have a team and this, this episode, is going to be really geared towards leaders, but if you're, if you're not a leader, keep listening, because I do think that you're going to get something out of this. But I'm speaking to the leaders primarily because you guys have more to lose if your team doesn't work right. So if you rely, if currently your team is working or let's say, 10% are working and you're getting a commission check, that's great. But you know, in the summer things slow down. And this is this is what makes it hard about putting all your eggs in one basket when you have a team, because you're dependent on them working, you're dependent on them getting sales, you're dependent on them growing their team, and when they don't, that affects you right, it's out of your control. So I'm going to and this goes for all of you, even if you're not a leader but what if this summer you had a digital product you were selling and you were like and it was on autopilot, so you don't have to spend a lot of time selling it, it's happening behind the scenes. How would that feel? In addition to your direct sales business, wouldn't that feel good?

Speaker 1:

The thing is is, in the summer, everyone, like I said, slows down, team engagement tanks because people are on vacations, they're focusing on their kids, they're maybe not working as much. It might feel like you're chasing more people because you can't seem to get them to respond to you, and maybe that's every day, but commissions tend to drop a little bit, it's conference. Usually a lot of you have your conference during the summer, which is super fun Okay, it's so fun to go and connect and get inspired and motivated and all the things but oftentimes things slow down for you financially as well. I know that in the summers for me, when I was having parties, people would still I would still get parties on my calendar, but unless it was like a whole, you know, girls night, let's have happy hour in the backyard, theme type, type, type party. Um, it was hard to get people there. You know, it was hard to get in front of people. It was hard that that and that's the same. Now, even if you're not doing in-person events, it's still the same. People slow down If you're on social media.

Speaker 1:

I mean, people are still going to be on social media, but you shouldn't be relying on your social media for your business. So it's really important to come up with a way. Honestly, it's really important for you to create some more sustainability, some more security in your life, and you're already creating content. You guys, you're already creating content. Why put all your eggs in one basket with your direct sales business, hoping that you're going to rank up or hoping that you're going to get the sales, or hoping that you're going to get the commission check that you're planning on and you don't. That sucks right, because the problem isn't you, it's the model. And listen, you'll know I'm a huge advocate of the direct sales industry, but what I don't love is how so many direct sellers sort of fall into this trap of small thinking. This is just where I'm going. I'm going to stay right here, and you are already creating things and doing things that you could be monetizing Really.

Speaker 1:

Imagine if you could create just something. You could create a guide, you could create a mini course, you could create a secret podcast. You could do I mean you could do a coaching program. No, that sounds big. I mean I'm talking small Like. I'm talking like something that could be going in the background. So, maybe not the coaching program, but imagine if you had that being sold on autopilot because you've created a funnel and you didn't have to put a ton of effort into creating it. So let's think about this You're already coaching as a team leader.

Speaker 1:

You're already doing that. You're already training your new reps. You're answering the same questions over and over again for your customers and for your team. You are posting daily content. You are probably teaching your audience some things You're giving value, you're teaching, you're showing. All of this, you guys, is monetizable content. You're already doing the work. You're just not getting paid for it yet. Now I understand that if you create something, you can't charge your team for it 100%, but I want you to think about what are some things that you're doing right now that you could sell, and I really just am going to encourage you to think big here. Think big Now. You know my story.

Speaker 1:

Amanda and I were in our direct sales business. We had separate businesses, we were in separate downlines, we were successful, we were running, we were happy, but then we started. We created the Facebook party and the Facebook party helped us double our sales in one year and we were like we have something here, and then someone said you should sell this. This is something you've created, people want this, and so we did, and we put it in a mini course and we sold it for $19.99. Now we totally undervalued ourselves. We should not have been selling it for $19.99. And we didn't. Eventually we increased the price. But my point is chances are you're doing something now that is working for you, or you have the knowledge in something and it might not even be in your direct sales business.

Speaker 1:

I have students in my program and your backup plan who are. I have someone who is creating a toolkit for children with anxiety and so she's going to market it to parents who have children with anxiety. That's massive. People are 100% going to pay for that. I have someone else who is creating. She's into clean living and her story is that she had really, really bad asthma and it was spending probably thousands of dollars on medication, and when she made some changes in her life like just clean living, changes, removing certain chemicals, all the things her asthma improved tremendously. And she is speaking. She is speaking to parents who have children with asthma. She's saying listen, here are some quick things that you can do now to improve your child's breathing, and she's going to be doing some some like coaching video or training videos for that. So these are things that she's already doing. These are things that people are already doing.

Speaker 1:

So I want you to think about that. I want you to think about what is it that you are creating or doing that you could actually turn into a digital product, and they don't have to be these crazy huge programs. Literally, it can be a simple guide. It can be a simple podcast. Okay, it could be a recipe book. I'm serious, you guys, so let's go there a little bit. Oh, here's another idea Template bundles. People freaking love a planner or templates, or like journals or content planners.

Speaker 1:

I'm telling you, like, if you are good in Canva or you're creating things for your team, think about turning that into money, honey. Okay, honestly, what if you did like a mini course or a or a pdf guide about like mindset or creating habits or onboarding? Do you have a really good onboarding system? Let's monetize it. Again. I know you can't sell to your team, but there are plenty of other network marketers out there. Or you could create a private podcast or an audio series that people have to pay for. That's going to transform their life in some way.

Speaker 1:

Listen, if you've ever said I should really do like, I wonder if I could sell this or I should really make something out of this or whatever, this is your sign, sister. Even if you haven't ever thought that, even if you haven't ever thought that, I'm telling you you have something that you can monetize right now. Okay, so listen, you've got about. I don't know what is it. Six to eight weeks before summer fully hits, so that's plenty of time for you to get a first version out, all right, and I'm going to encourage you to just start it. Create it. No panic, you panic later, okay, but instead of waiting until the commission check drops, instead of waiting until summer, instead of waiting until the commission check drops, instead of waiting until summer, instead of waiting until you're like, hmm, I need to come up with a backup plan, I need something else. Instead of waiting until the company closes or the company changes models, which hello, this has happened again. Two other companies have closed their doors. Like what? Anyway, why not start creating your digital product now? It doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be fancy. It does not have to be fancy, it just needs to be helpful. Because, listen, a $17 product can turn into hundreds over the summer, and more as you grow. And this is just the beginning, right, this is just your first version. We're going to get out there.

Speaker 1:

It's not about creating a whole new business. It's just about adding more money to your life. It's just about monetizing what you already do. And I think that's the beauty of building a network marketing business is that you are learning so much you have learned. You are not the same person today that you were when you started your business. Can we just reflect on that for a moment? You are not the same person that you are, that you were. You are not the same person today that you were when you started this business, because, in this industry you are. It's almost like a springboard for more. You are growing. It's a personal development journey, and when we grow in our personal development, we become the next version of ourselves, the even better version of ourselves. And guess what? Hi, you're the even better version of yourself right now.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about that. Let's think about what are you doing that you could monetize, that we could turn into a digital product, and if you are thinking right now there's nothing that I could do, I'm going to call BS on that. My friend, I'm going to give you a little bit of tough love here A little bit of tough love, because I just call BS on that. The difference, though, is are you going the difference between, like, those who are successful and those who are not? And I was actually talking to my kids about this last night.

Speaker 1:

I was like the entrepreneurs who are successful they don't quit, they don't give up, they keep going. My daughter, my 17 year old, my newly 17 year old, wants to be an entrepreneur. And I'm like, yes, girl, yes, yes, and I will help you. But I was just talking about how you know, sometimes it's not easy. It's not easy being an entrepreneur, but the difference between a successful entrepreneur and a non-successful entrepreneur, that we don't quit, right, and you're not a quitter. So let's talk about if you're thinking, okay, I have an idea. But and I'm telling you what a lot of the ladies in the backup plan, my program there's a lot of overthinking happening. I've been there too, sister. I have been there too.

Speaker 1:

But I want you to understand if we wait to be perfect, that's just a form of procrastination, that's just a form of self-sabotage, because we don't need the perfection. We don't need it to be perfect. We're afraid, you're afraid, of something when we come up with all these reasons as to why something isn't going to work. We don't need it to be perfect. We're afraid, you're afraid, of something right. When we come up with all these reasons as to why something isn't gonna work or that's not ready to put out there or whatever, that's because we have some fear. Here's all I'm gonna say again, it doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to be helpful, because if you're selling, like a $17 product, $9 product girl, listen, just a reminder I sold a $19.99 product and in a year we reached and I think we were over a hundred thousand, I think we were like more, like 200,000. Why? Because it was solving a need. It was teaching people how they could stop partying in person, party on Facebook, hello in their pajamas, and double their sales. And they did. Did everyone know? Right? But there were plenty that did.

Speaker 1:

So here's what I'm going to. Here's what I'm going to encourage you to do. I want you to take action. I want you to take action. I want you to start brain dumping your ideas today. I don't want you overthinking. I want you to take out. I want you to take action. I want you to start brain dumping your ideas today.

Speaker 1:

I don't want you overthinking. I want you to take out your notebook or your journal or whatever and just start coming up with ideas and listen if you're like, I just want ideas on, like, what are some digital product ideas?
