Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast for direct sellers who are ready to get uncomfortable, build their business and grow a team while changing the face of the direct sales industry. I'm your host, rachel Perry. Join me as we get real and talk about all the things you need to kick some serious direct sales booty From overcoming limiting beliefs to sharing the exact strategies you need to attract the right people who become customers and beg to join your team. I've got you covered, girl. I'm going to be your new BFF when it comes to balancing life and kids while building your direct sales business with poise, peace of mind and, of course, a good set of fake eyelashes. Let's get started. Hello, my beautiful friends, how are you? I hope you have had a good week since we last chatted. I love that I'm here because today we're going to talk about the easiest way to start an additional stream of revenue or income, because you guys know this is my passion.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we talked about branding this year in 2024. We talked about building your direct sales business in 2025. We're talking about really how we can add another stream of income to your life without it feeling heavy. How we can create more security and stability in your life. Okay, because the direct sales world is a little, was a little bit up and down in 2024. I don't know what 2025 is going to bring, but I do know that you creating more security in your life is going to make you feel so much better, okay.

Speaker 1:

So, and here's the thing, you might think that adding a new stream is complicated and overwhelming and time consuming and it requires some genius business plan or a ton of money, but I'm here to tell you that it is not Okay. So let's, let's just touch on for a second why having an additional stream of income matters. Okay, I understand that we are in this life right, that's crazy busy. And life right, that's crazy busy and the thought of adding something else to your plate might feel heavy, especially if you are in a 95. Now, if you're in a 95, you already have another stream of income. What if you could add another one?

Speaker 1:

Sister, I was talking to someone in email the other day and she was like I just want to leave my nine to five. I want to quit. That's why I want to know the stream of income. I want to quit, and what we've seen is direct sales is amazing, okay, but it's not super reliable. You're sort of relying on other people, right, to bring in what you need, and it can be. It can feel a little bit like you're hustling a lot but not getting a whole lot of results, right. So when you have another stream of income, it relieves that stress.

Speaker 1:

Because when direct sales is your only stream of income and you are, you know, reliant on that in your life, that's a little risky because and as we've seen so many things happen and I'm going to say this with so much love, okay, so hear me from a place of love but a lot of the companies that have changed their models or business models or have closed their doors or whatever, they told their fields that everything was fine. Right, it was a shock to so many. So, even if you feel like you are in a secure place, it's really really smart for you to have kind of something on the side as well, which is why we talk about building a brand, right, Because if you build a brand while you are selling that one product, if something were to happen to that product or that company, you would still be able to continue in that space, right? So I just want you to understand, like, this is why branding is so important. This is why it's important for you to start thinking about another stream of income and it doesn't have to be hard. Think of it like a safety net. It's there if you need it, but it's not going to take center stage necessarily.

Speaker 1:

Now a lot of people that I've worked with have done have built additional streams of income and then they have stepped into that more. I did that. That's what happened to me. Direct sales was my major was how I was bringing in money, and then we had. Then we started the tag team and direct sales was still kind of my way of making money and then eventually the tag team morphed into this bigger, bigger business and I had to actually give up my direct sales business because I couldn't do both. Now I'm not saying that's going to happen to you. I'm not saying that's what needs to happen at all, but I do believe strongly that you are meant for more and I do think that it can be easier than you think.

Speaker 1:

Now some of you might have this belief that really you have nothing else to offer. Like you were a teacher, for example, and you just happened to do direct sales on the side and that's really all you have to offer. Like you were a teacher, for example, and you just happened to do direct sales on the side and that's really all you have to offer. I don't know why I brought up teacher, maybe because I used to be one, but whatever it is, that's total nonsense. Everyone everyone has skills or experiences that others can benefit from. Period, end of story. You have skills. You have experiences that others can learn from.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so here are some things to think about. Like, if you're like I just don't know and I've talked about this before, so some of this might be a little bit of a repeat, but just hear me out Ask yourself, what do people come to you for advice on? Now, if you're like, nobody comes to me for advice, that's fine. What have you ask yourself? What have you overcome that someone else might be struggling with? Like, if I were to think about it and I love doing this like, I love teaching people how to build their direct sales businesses, and I absolutely love teaching direct sellers how to build another stream of income or build their own business. But, like, I have raised three neurodivergent children. I haven't raised them we are still in the process, but I have a lot to offer in that area. I have a lot to offer when it comes to advocating for your children in the special ed arena. I have a lot to offer when it comes to there are many things, many experiences that I have that I could actually create another stream of income out of, truly, and so do you? So think about that. What have you overcome that someone else might be struggling with? And then ask yourself, what do you know about your product or industry, let's say, industry that could help others succeed? So let's say I don't know why this is on my mind Pamper Chef. Okay, let's say you sell, pamper Chef. So what is something that you could teach? Well, you could probably teach or share, or like baking One of the girls in my expand program, tiffany.

Speaker 1:

She I love following her. She bakes a lot, she cooks a lot and she is doing this sourdough bread thing. I'm like, please give me more information on this, right, like that is honestly, she could dive into like that one little thing. Now, yes, I realize, like building something out of just sourdough bread. Actually, no, you could 100% do that. She could sell starter, she could create an ebook on how to bake the best sourdough bread and it could come with all the ingredients, like literally, there are so many things that you can do.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you don't have to be an expert, you just need to be one step ahead of someone else. That's all it takes to add value. I'm not an expert on raising neurodivergent teens, yet I will be, hopefully by the time the last one is in her 20s, right? Well, who knows? Because experiences are what give you the expertise. You don't need certifications, you don't need all the degrees and whatever. Experience is so much more. I remember when I was student teaching. I remember thinking I have learned more in student teaching than I did in my four years of education, because experience is what makes us. Experience is what gives us the value, or gives us the wisdom. That's more like it, the wisdom, not the value.

Speaker 1:

So let's talk about some easy income ideas for you. Easiest one right here is affiliate marketing. Yeah, affiliate marketing. You are constantly using things that you love. Okay, now, I'm not saying become an affiliate for every single product, because that's a little much, but let me give you an example of what I'm an affiliate for. So I use Kajabi to house all of my courses and sometimes people in my program, probably more my direct seller CEO program, which that name is changing. They are creating their own courses or their own programs, and so some of them will use Kajabi. They'll use my link and I will make some of that money, right. So they'll pay for it monthly and Kajabi gives me a percentage of that each month. It's not much, but it adds up. Here's another idea I love makeup and skincare and I don't actively sell it, but I do have a link and I do get commission if I ever sell any of it. So it's kind of what direct sellers do full time, right. I will share that link and I will make a cut of that. That's affiliate marketing and that's probably the easiest way you can add an additional stream of income, and we're going to dive more into that in the new year, but this is a very powerful way to make some extra money.

Speaker 1:

Another idea digital products, templates, ebooks, a mini course Okay, there are so many things that you can create digitally that you can make a little bit of extra money. Y'all. A little bit goes a long way. Then maybe, if you have and I've talked to some of you in my emails about how you want to be coach you want to consult, maybe you trained as a graphic designer, y'all you could freelance. Maybe you love to write? Use your expertise to help others achieve the results that you've mastered. Okay, these are just a few ideas. You guys, I am currently making a list. I'm trying to make a list of like 100 ways that you can add an additional stream of income. I think I'm up to 50.

Speaker 1:

But that's going to be coming out in the new year, because I think that we just need to open our minds to this, and sometimes we think we only have the knowledge that we have, and so it's hard for us to think out of the box. And my goal is to help you do this, because here's the thing you are already good at things. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. Why not leverage what you're already good at, like use your social media presence for affiliate links, or turn a commonly asked question into a guide or an ebook that you can sell? You don't need to build a whole new business. You just need to add a layer to what you already do. Here's the thing, and we're going to end this soon, because I know that you're busy, and I am too, at the time of this recording. We've still got a lot of things to do before we're ready for Christmas. But here's the thing, and I need you to hear this you are already enough and you already have what it takes to start.

Speaker 1:

Adding a new income or a new stream of income doesn't have to mean doing more. It's about working smarter and letting your skills shine in new ways. It doesn't have to be overcomplicated. I want you to stop that voice in your mind that's telling you that you just need to do X, y and Z before you're ready. This is why I'm here. I'm here to help you along and if you're like, okay, I'm ready to take we talked about imperfect action last week. I'm ready to take imperfect action. I know I have an idea of what I can do. If you're like I don't know where to start, rachel, I don't know where to start, I want you to just DM me on Instagram at Rachel A Perry. Dm me the word. Well, just DM me and say Rachel, I know that I need to do more. I want to do more. I know I'm ready to add another stream of income, but I'm just not sure where to start. You're not gonna get a many chat response, okay, you're gonna get me and I would love to help you figure out what is next for you. Let's brainstorm it together, because you know what In 2025, this is your year.

Speaker 1:

This is the year you gain freedom. This is the year you can breathe. This is the year that you can have the security that you've been craving from your direct sales business. This is the year that you pay off debt. How amazing will that feel when you no longer have that debt on your credit card or in a loan or wherever else you can have debt.

Speaker 1:
